My fiction has appeared in Five Chapters, PANK, Open City, and The Awl, among others, my essays in The Common, The Rumpus, and elsewhere.
I’ve taught honors creative writing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I obtained my MFA in Fiction and was Assistant Director of the 2011 and 2012 Juniper Literary Festival and a 2010-2012 Juniper Fellow, co-coordinating the Visiting Writers Series. I co-founded and designed Route 9 and was Editor for its first three issues.
I was awarded UMass’s 2010 Harvey Swados Prize [pdf] and the 2008 Arthur Edelstein Prize. In 2011, I was a finalist for New Letters’ Alexander Cappon Prize in fiction and for UMass’s Delaney Prize. In 2012 I was long-listed for the Dzanc Books Short Story Collection Prize. In January 2013, my story “All the Summers Ahead” was featured on Longform, and The Common named my review of Zadie Smith’s NW to their Best of 2012. My story “Bridal Discount” was on the long list for wigleaf’s 2013 Top 50 (Very) Short Fiction.
I’m currently revising a story collection and a novel set in New York in the 1990s and 2000s.
