Does It Float?
For those about to joke, regardless of topic: is anyone’s power about to be neutralized? Does the object of the joke have more or less power than the joker?
- Dictator slipping on a banana peel: A+ cathartic slapstick
- Political prisoner slipping on a banana peel: tragic irony
- Guards laughing at prisoner: sadism of a non-consensual nature
And how, the hypothetical joker might ask, do I know if I have power? Well, only you can say when your spidey sense is tingling, but in my experience those with power have a acutely heightened awareness of it, often at the expense of other, atrophied senses.
