Take Me To The Bridge
late afternoon run, Northampton to Hadley, Mass.
The World Monuments Fund has added Hadley, Massachusetts to its 2010 list of endangered sites, citing its
arrangement of slender, unfenced, elongated land parcels bounded by the river [that] has endured since the time of the allotments to original settlers… This survival on such a large scale, over the centuries and through American industrialization in the northeastern United States, is incredibly improbable.
Hadley joins Taliesin, The bridges of the Merritt Parkway, and castles, mosques, temples, churches and villages around the world on the list of sites endangered through development or neglect.
