Researching for a story set in Manchester, Vermont, I found this:

Radio station WEQX’s tower is located on [Equinox] mountain, hence the callsign of the station. There is also a former hotel, the Sky Line Inn. A small, abandoned Cold War-era NORAD radar station can be seen near the summit. An abandoned, now collapsed tunnel boring dating to the mid 1960s, would have provided access to a subterranean cryonics receptacle for humans placed in low-temperature suspension. The tunnel project site is located on the northwest slope of the peak near the 2,800 ft. level. A private Vermont-based firm, Renew, Inc., had planned to preserve the bodies of several prominent high-IQ individuals for future reawakening. The project was hastily abandoned due to fraud allegations.

My story is so much less badass than fraudulent cryonics.

Everything I chanced upon on the Internet today was funny (well, not this or this.  Three guesses as to why we don’t hear more about tainted food).

Then there’s this.  After almost two decades of the web, do we have a term yet (besides ‘distraction’ or ‘procrastination’) for the wonderful, terrible, scabby, or NSFW unexpectedness on the far side of a link?  Call it far side surprise, or RückseiteÜberraschung, like in SF when a ship’s crew has to suddenly figure out where the heck they’ve woken up or jumped to, and all familiar bearings are gone (This happens a lot).
